National Public Defense Symposium

Achieving the Promise of the Sixth Amendment:Non-Capital and Capital Defense Services

The symposium will be held at the University Of Tennessee College Of Law on May 20th through May 21st. The program will address some of the most prevalent issues many public defenders face including, extremely high caseloads and underfunding. Notable scholars and attorneys in the field will discuss how public defenders can deal with these issues in their own offices, and will present reform based solutions aimed to solve this national problem.

This event is presented by The American Bar Association Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defendants, The American Bar Association Death Penalty Representation Project, The University of Tennessee College of Law Center for Advocacy & Dispute Resolution, The Tennessee Journal of Law & Policy, and The Justice Project.
