Planned Giving
There are several approaches to planning the best gift for your situation and way of life. We urge you to consult an attorney to discuss decisions regarding your estate plans.
Remember The Justice Project in Your Will
Bequests are gifts made to a charity through a will. By including TJP in your will you will be leaving a legacy of commitment to a more humane and just world. Every dollar given through a bequest is fully deductible for federal estate tax purposes. You can make your bequest for a specific sum, property, or the residue of your estate. Preparation of a will and other estate planning options provide an opportunity to articulate your wishes, your values and your legacy. If you would like sample language that may be helpful if you decide to leave a bequest to TJP, please feel free to contact us.
Retirement Plan Gift
By designating The Justice Project as beneficiary of your IRA or pension plan assets, you avoid all income and estate taxes. If you leave these assets to a non-spousal individual beneficiary, they could be subject to extremely high estate tax and income taxes.
Charitable Remainder Trust
Transfer assets to a trustee and each year you and/or someone you have designated will receive income from the trust. The trust may last either for a term of years or for life. The trust allows you to receive an income tax deduction now, arrange for tax-free growth of retirement assets, and receive a retirement income from the trust when you retire. When the trust ends, the remaining trust assets will pass to The Justice Project. Retirement plan assets may also be used to fund Charitable Remainder Trusts.
